I think I have written at least 2 if not 3 pages of thoughts to share this week.
I had a good visit with Dr. Graham. My work in the class has been rewarding and Dr. Graham has been very kind and helpful.
I got caught up with my ghosts this week when I tried to get advice about where I should go from here. I need to let them rest. But I better be sure that I make some decisions soon. That was frustrating. I am not anxious to be trained to be a surrogate mother for any number of children. I would quickly find myself at odds with many parents about what constitutes their role and mine.
As for technology, in the classroom, I was not in any classrooms per say this week. I was busy creating a PO for the 4th Grade and a PP for training the elementary teachers on how to use the website, Science Buddies as a resource for their classrooms.
But I can say that the only technology these teachers have are simple things like thermometers, balances, scales and graduated cylinders. I have seen a tremendous enthusiasm for technology and a longing to figure out how to bring more into the classroom.
Teachers are thinking that technology is for the most part computers. However, as I have worked through this class, I have come to realize that I am a technology junky with a short memory of how powerful it was to have any kind of equipment. Technology begins with the first tool man made. So I will begin as whatever level I have available to me at this time and move forward.
As for sharing an idea for how something I saw taught this week could have been done with technology, let's just say that it is time for me to kick lesson 4 into gear and see if I can do it for each of the 3rd Grade classes.
I intend to demonstrate the children how dangerous it is to be in a closed car in the heat of the sun.
